CARAMIA Gino

The Caramia’s immigrated from Crispiano, Italy.
They boarded the ‘PROTEA’ and departed from the port of Naples, arriving in Fremantle in 1951.
They were nominated to emigrate to Australia by Dick Pozzi.
There is a record of Certificate of Naturalization in 1969 for
"Francesca Caramia” of 13 Whitehead Road, Gnowangerup 6335.
Gino was born in 1926 and Anna was born in 1933.
Gino was originally a Naval engineer, but in Australia was a Builder.

They initially settled in Katanning where they developed a farm from native bush.
After 10 years there the family moved to Gnowangerup, there they established a thriving construction business providing employment for many local residents and fellow migrants.
They then returned to Albany to enjoy their retirement.
There is a panel celebrating their status as emigrants at Fremantle Harbour. Their number is 93
